According to this report at DigiTimes, the budget LCD TV maker Vizio is set to release a 52” 1080p LCD TV for $2,200 next month.

A 52-inch Vizio-branded full-HD LCD TV is expected to hit the North America market in August with the panels sourced from LG.Philips LCD, according to sources. The price tag for the new model will be US$2,200 and the TV will first be available in Costco, added the sources.

I've got the 42" 1080i higher contrast model and I freakin love it! My father-in-law bought the 47" 1080P... These things rock.

Have the blacks improved over the older 32" tv's from last year? I took an older model back as black=ed gray.

Interesting....I'll have to keep an eye on this.

I got a Phillips brand 47" 1080p LCD for $1850 in January..... $350 more for an extra 5 inches and a lesser brand, 6 months later, sounds about right. Is this the first 52" LCD or something, because otherwise it doesn't sound particularly special or exciting.

I have the Vizio and I swear by them. They make great products. Combine it with costcos no questions asked return policy, and you have yourself a killer deal

I've been waiting for this 52" tv to replace my zenith 52" rear lcd that has finally started to gobble up lamps like you wouldn't believe. Vizio is a very good repackager and their customer service is good too. I had 2 37" tv's and they both had some minor issues. The first one was that the tv would shut off sporadically by itself. That got fixed with a service call the next day. Then the other one had a speaker problem were the speaker out just belch out this horrendous noise, like it was ready to blow. Sent it back and got another one. I could have gone to costco and taken it back, but either way worked. Got the tv replacement set in 3 days. Not bad.

I just got the Visio 42" 1080P LCD at costco last month. it was $1199 minus a in-store $200 coupon, I got it fot $999+tax. It is a very nice unit for the money. LOTS of inputs for all my toys. Now if my cable provider only gave me 1080p programming instead of 1080i I would be happy. No real complaints except the sound system could be better, but thats just an excuse to buy a new home theatre system too.

they have the plasma for the same price, but im told LCD is the way to go.

So this means something like $1500 by Christmas? Or this might be the price of a 72" model by then...;)

Interesting, was looking into a Vizo but really want to go with a TV that is 1080P. Will keep my eyes peeled a bit closer. The looking at the $800~$900 price range personally.
