512 or 1gig?

I have 2 sticks of 512 that used to work fine in my axp setup at 220+. I've since switched to an a64 setup and with both sticks in I can no longer get anything stable over 190, but with one stick in it's fine at everything I've tried so far. So do I stick with one stick and sell the other or deal with a lower fsb and 1 gig of ram.
 
are you able to still achieve the same cpu speed by using a higher multiplier or are you also loosing some mhz by lowering the fsb? 512mb is a pretty big help nowadays, id be sad if i had to part with one of my sticks.

Have you tried moving the sticks around in the slots ive heard that might help stability. Also it might be as simple as waiting for a bios update to help stabalize them
 
I can get the same overclock whether I'm using one or two sticks I just have to lower the divider with two sticks to slow it down and still achieve the same cpu overclock. It may just be my motherboard and I'm planning on getting another one sometime this month (either vnf3-250 or 8kda3j) since my current mobo has no agp/pci locks anyways (ak86-l).
