Never done a mod, but I would like to do up a nice clean 1950's style case reminiscent of the old cars. I am set on a turquoise or teal and chrome color scheme Anyways If anyone has any ideas lemme know. :D

Make it look like the back of a car. It'd have to have fins like an old Caddy or Chevy. The tail lights could be hard drive activity and the license plate lights could be power. The license plate is something you could be creative with. The exhaust pipe could be the intake grille or something. You could also make it the front of the car, though it might be a little harder.

How about one of those old jukeboxes that sat on the ends of the tables in diners? Remember those? They had like 20 buttons on the front, and had a curved glass front, had pages you flipped to fnd the song you wanted to play. Remember?

i would think that chrome and red, black, and white would be the best.

For your jukebox's take a look here:

ooooo that would be awesome, go with that!

There was a custom job done a year or so again, a completely over-the-top professional job that could be custom-made for $1000+. I'll try to dig up some pictures of it tonight. It had a definite 50's/60's chrome thing going, amazing work at that.

Dang, I'd have to agree with some of those reviewers! While the concept might be really cool, that case is anything but asthetically pleasing to the eye!!

Here's some cases you might want to consider. While they might be cases that no true modder would ever choose (since they're already so heavily pre-modded), they might give you a head start, or even an idea of what you can do to achieve the look you're wanting. :)

Dracula has some cool wings along the sides, that could be modded to look like the wings on an old 50's car. I'd definitely get rid of the stupid alien head thing on the door, no matter what I planned on using this case for, since it doesn't follow along with the scheme at all!!
This version has more chrome, so might be a better choice.

Chieftec Dragon is a good simple case, easy to mod, and great cooling capabilities. I've linked the silver one, but they also offer them in green, purple, yellow, red & blue at that price. Nice cases, at a decent price! :)

Oh, and if you want it to look like a Tucker (think that's the one that had the swiveling center headlight, that would turn as you turned the steering wheel, so you could see what was around the corner), you could use one of these Aerocool cases, and add a couple headlights on the outside!! LOL

Cool idea! But rather than make a PC that looks like a '50s style jukebox or car, what about making a concept like 'if PCs were made in the 50s, then what would they have looked like?' That pic along with the Predicta website should give you a pretty good start.....

I think that is the way I am now directing especially after finding that pic.

a 50's style computer case..... i got an idea, you could get a warehouse, some gigantic vaccume tubes, some uber huge reististors/transisters/capasitors.. etc keep in mind they didnt have silicoln chips back then, so it seems u have to deal with an alternate type of chip such as a ceramic chip, and lotsa wires.. :D :D pwnt :D :D

go to a junkyard and find some inspiration... then buy the body trim parts you can clean up and use

Yeah, but wouldn't the 5 dozen reel to reel tapes take up a LOT of room?? LOL

We're talking about the latest distribution for Windows '55? ;D

Actually I do have a 1958 Ampex reel-to-reel that I can post a pic of it if it'll help get an idea of the 'style'....
