I am about to put a 2nd XFX 8800GS Alpha Dog in my comp and I'm not sure if the 500w PS in it is hefty enough.

Pent D 915 @3.3G
Abit AW8D mobo
2g DDR2800 4x512mb
80g HDD
XFX 8800GS Alpha Dog
 
Don't you think it would be important to know which PSU he is using?;):D

 
I guess my dummy vga plug was built by a dummy(me) because I can't get vista to see it as a monitor.

I went ahead and put the card in another comp in place of the ati 4670 that I can't fold with yet.
 
450 watts is perfectly fine on that system. You could almost add a 3rd video card to that, but then the P/S would be running on the edge, which isn't recommended because of the added heat, and reduced efficiency.
 
I ran a Q6600 at 3.4 GHz + 2x 8800GS with a 500W Seasonic PSU so you will be fine :)

Yup, no argument a Seasonic would be able to handle that. However, you qualified your 500 WATT PSU. There are many 500s through 1000s out there with all sorts of problems that don't show up in the written specs.

I doubt you would be able to convince an Allied 550 to do the job for very long;)

Yeah, not all psu is created equally. I would run like hell if it were a Raidmax powering the boxen :eek:

 
I've used their P/S, they are ok for a regular computer with a basic video card, but anything powerful will fry it.

That's not a power supply, it's best used as a brick or a step stool.
