I'm trying to save some cash while building a new system. In one of my old system i'm breaking down i have a FSP Group AX500 which i would like to confirm if it would be ok to go into my current system (soon be my son's) Phenom II 940BE 3.2 w/ 4870 1gb(stock) w/ 8gb SKILL mem in a CM 900 case. In that AMD system i want to pull out my CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX which will go into my new rig:

i7 920
Asus P6X58D
G.skill 6gb
either a 4890 or 5850 (not sure yet which way i may go..)

.......and I would like to use my old tt-case, but i need to do some moding to improve airflow.. suggestions as welcome.

Don't even look back, buy the Corsair. You're getting a much better PSU IMHO. Also...FSP Group allows 2-year warranty vs. Corsairs 5-year. Also...The Corsair 650TX pushes 52 AMPS!!! You're limiting youself @ 500 watts with a 5850. Also...@ $79.99 AR with free shipping that's a soild deal!

Actually i have that corsair already. looks like i'm going to have to dish out the extra for another psu, maybe get the 750 version of it.

What about the case, still up to standards, or do I need to let go of it as well.

500W is more than sufficient for you new rig. You should get a more quality, less watt for your AMD rig.

If you are not planning to get CrossFire on your new rig with the 5850s, stick with the Corsair 650. Don't get the 4890.
