• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

I signed up here a long time ago, but never had a need to post back then. I wanted to post in the hot deals section but was refused because of no post history.

The way the message reads, i would need to start 50 threads before i would be alowed to post.

I'm sure the rule is to stop spam ad's.

but as always, the end user is the one who pays for the spamers transgresions.

I was very active at "another" tech websight, But their turn to phone news put me off and i have settled here reading the latest Tech News without sorting through Phone news that does not intrest me.

Anyway, Is there a way to bypass starting 50 threads borring your readers just to be able to post to areas of my intrest?

Thanks

Don't think you have to start 50 threads, just have 50 posts. I've posted there before and have maybe started 3 threads my entire time here.

When you register has no bearing on status, it's just a number. The reason for a 50 post limit for FS/T forums and [H]otDeals is of course spammers, and prolonged participation in the forums with meaningful, well thought out posts proves your intent here. If you had just made about 2 posts a week since you registered, you would make the cut and have a history here on the forums. Many try to rush the process and spam the forums with posts until they hit 50. They never make it that far.

(16) No BUYING, TRADING, or SELLING anywhere with the exception of the For Sale / Trade forum. The FS/T forum has its own set of specific rules and has a required 50 post minimum to participate. WARNING: Do not spam the forums to reach the required minimum, your posts will be deleted or your account banned outright. Please read their rules before posting in that forum. No PRICE CHECKS allowed. [H]ard|Forum is NOT RESPONSIBLE for any loss due to any sale or exchange of any item in the For Sale / Trade forum. Caveat Emptor!!

The short answer is there is no way around the 50 post limit.

maybe the time signed up here also plays a part? I see you have 2.9 years under your belt. :)

I am thinking that most don't post here to ask, and just give up and move on.

collateral damage that lowers the new user count overall?

Thanks.

Well I ran a vbulletin board and server years ago, and i understand the reasons behind your choice to not alow new users to post in some areas.

And as i aluded to before, Theres a cost for the choices made.

We all pay the price for the spammers.

I don't mind just reading here.

When i try to post a answer in the future, and hit the block again, i will just shrug and move on.

Thanks for your prompt responce.
