$50 Limit Headphone suggestions?

I'm looking for a pair of cans that can give me the best bang/buck for me needs. Right now i've been thinking about the HD 497 as the "standard" $50 can to get, but i'm wondering what other options I might have. Basically i'll be using these at my desk while either playing WoW or composing stuff for my music theory class. The sound quality doesn't need to be that top notch (since i'll mostly be using crappy midi for my compositions anyway), but I want something to be comfortable and decent. I'm liking the 'open can' design, since I'd like to be able to hear stuff around me somewhat when at my desk, though I hope it won't leak out enough sound to piss off my roommate. Anyone got any ideas?
 
see if you can get a pair of grado sr 60's used, or on sale or something.
 
Since you said the sound quality doesn't have to be the best, I'd say save some money and get a set of ksc-75s. They don't sound quite as good as the sr-60, but not too far from it and they're only $20.They're clip-ons, but I've never had a comfort issue with them and I wear glasses.
 
the grados have been tempting me as well, but I heard that they have really crappy positioning when it comes to games (I still play the occasional CS session). I guess in the end I'll be staying with hd 497's.
