Setup -

AV8 listed in thread.
PCI 33Mhz bus SCSI card
Software RAID-5
5x U320 15K 36GB 80-pin SCSI drives (1 by itself for OS, 4 in RAID-5)
1x DVD+/-RW
BFG GeForceFX 5700 Ultra
6 or 7 80mm fans :)
USB devices out the wazoo (About 10 of em!)
RaidMAX 450W PSU

One of these things does not belong. I haven't gotten the SCSI drives or the controller card in yet, but looking at everything as a bundle... Is my PSU going to be sufficient? If I have to upgrade, I would prefer to move over to a redundant PSU, as every component in this machine is slowly being exchanged for server parts. Recommendations? SuperMicro's got a case with a triple-redundant 600W PSU for something like $500. Would this work?

Is it a Raidmax that came with a Raidmax case or is it one of the Raidmax retail power supplies manufactured by Topower?

When purchasing the ATC-710 that this computer is/will be housed in, it was the "recommended" power supply from the site. It came in a purple box, not hooked up, all new and shiny and unused. I'm ASSUMING, therefore, that it's an off-the-shelf product, not the one that would come with a RaidMAX case.

Whatever you decide, I would recommend setting up the SCSI disks to spin up as they are bieng scanned by the scsi card, this way you don't load the PSU with everything at once.
This is how I have my 2 Cheetahs setup.
