I've been looking around at the various e-stores and haven't really come across anything that has blown my socks off.

What does everyone use to fill their empty 5.25 bays?

I've got an Antec 900 (yeah I know.....:() with 2 open 5.25 bays, and a g15 keyboard running LCD Miscellany, so I don't really need a system resource monitor. Also, I'm trying to keep cables to a minimum, so not really interested in fan speed controllers or temp monitors, I just want something that looks cool and maybe performs a couple gimmicky features.

Device is replacing the 3 in 2 Sata backplane, as all the HD's were a temporary system merge from my file server for QuakeCon.
 
4x2.5" SAS enclosure x2 = 8 drives in 2 bays. Add in an 8port PCI-e SAS RAID controller, and populate with 300GB 10k drives in RAID-0=holy shit

How about LCDs? You could program them to display whatever, the G15 does that I guess but you can never have enough LCDs! If you're interested check out the Matrix Orbital Typhoon GX or something like that, it's about $90 for a IIRC 240*64 display, controller, NVG, etc. built in.
 
Where's the guy who put his CD / DVD holder in a 5.25 bay? It held like 20 discs and slid in and out. It looked like a perfect solution for empty bays.

cyberguys.com sells 5.25 devices like drawers =)
 
That was me. Yeah, good luck finding that CD holder any time soon. I haven't seen them since I bought mine.
 
i was looking for an extra thing 2 throw in the tower myself, want 2 get a fan controller but it cant have buttons sticking out . i'm useing the rocketfish case.....but the card/cd holder seems fine

adding another heat source to a box with 60mm exhaust fans, no thank you.
 
Damn, I really would have gotten one of those EZ Bakes. Just what a college dorm needs, the ability to make one cookie at a time! I wonder how hard it would be to hack one together...
 
Personally, I usually put blank covers over those unsightly empty slots..

me and a friend have Lian Li PC-8*mumble*s, his is black, mine's silver.. we traded out for each other's blank covers.. looked incredibly awesome
 
I've used Krylon Fusion, and some other brand that I got at Pep-Boys.

The Krylon Fusion is thicker, and harder keep from getting runs. It also builds up in the nooks and crannies like spray paint does.

The Pep-Boys stuff was muuuuch better. It was water thin. I couldn't MAKE it run if I had to. It dries super quick, and doesn't build up in the nooks and crannies.
