5.10 drivers = yuck

I just got my new vid card – what a deal I got on it – this is not a rant or a rave but I upgraded from a 9800 128 pro to an X850 250 pro –
Installed the 5.10 drivers and commenced to up all the settings on all the games I think I ever played (hehe), I’m loven it right.
So I (I know this is old, but it’s still one of my favorite games) start up mohaa – and what happens –
Crash!
I check out ati’s web sight and it’s a known issue with the X850 cards –
Does any one know if any of the older drivers will work or know when ati may be coming out with new drivers.
 
5.11s will be out sometime next month. 5.10s work just fine for me btw.
 
Make sure you uninstall your current drivers prior to installing new ones.
 
Yes – I uninstalled the 10’s and reinstalled 9 – it’s not happening. I also tried reinstalling the game.
I also have another question.
Do the new cards and drivers support TRUFORM?
I know, I know - this is another old one but still one of my favorites,
Return to castle wolfenstein – I tried to enable truform and it wouldn’t take it.
 
From 5.9 onwards (could also be 5.8) truform is no longer supported, it wasn't great (basically software rendered on newer cards) but there's still a demand for the feature so hopefully they'll put it back in.
 
loaded 5.10 on to my machine w/ my aiw 9600xt, they sucked wound up going back to 5.9, my tv tuner was out of wack with it.
 
5.10 betas seem to be working good for me, no problems with Q4 at all. playing at 1024x768 4x aa HQ settings.

i am sure we will see the 5.11s first week of November.
 
According to Firing Squad, the 5.10a Beta drivers only increase OpenGL performance for the X1000 series but DECREASES performance for the X800XL in Quake 4 (should have read that before I installed the 5.10a beta <_<)! Not very encouraging outlook for the 5.11 drivers for those of us using the X800/X850s since 5.10a are the drivers that will be tested by MS for the 5.11 release . . .
 
I've also seen someone gain 10fps in Quake 4 with a X850pro with the 5.10a's so I don't know what to believe. BTW the 5.10a's are basically beta drivers, the 5.11's will include the hotfix among other things so I doubt the 5.10a's will be the ones going up for WHQL...
 
i can't say i gained fps in Q4 becasue i didn't play any with the offical 5.10's but my frame rates are great with x850 xt pe
