My existing system is down to just the center channel and the sub working. Needless to say, it needs to be replaced. I think I'm using a SB Audigy. It's got the digital out, that'd be nice to keep use of. I'd like it to be 5.1 and be able to use... pro logic I think it's called? Where if it's 2.1 it'll send the sound to the surround speakers, so they're not silent without a 5.1 signal.

I'm doing mostly gaming and music, with occasional movies. I don't need anything crazy, but I'd like decent. I could prob spend $150ish. Being available on Newegg is a plus.

Using digital out isn't going to allow you to use real positional 5.1 with games, which pretty much defeats the purpose of 5.1 since music isn't supposed to be 5.1 (except in rare cases).

Keep an eye on the deals sites. The Logitech Z-5500s were just on sale for 146.

I bought it prob 10 years ago, the system is actually older than the audigy. If I shouldn't be using digital, I'm cool with that. Is there any need to upgrade my sound card as well? Now that I'm realizing it's prob fairly old as well. Though I've had no problems with it.
