5 1/4" Equalizer for Drive bays?

I once saw an equalizer on a computer in the 5.25" drive bay. It was somehow hooked up to his speakers and it was fully functional.

Anyone ever hear of any of these?
 
'yea I think I remember that one. It was an automotive unit that was hacked to work with his PC sound. I don't think I've seen an EQ. designed for the PC specifically.
 
I remember that awesome project of yours! But I believe that's a "spectrum analyzer" and not a graphic equalizer.
 
Yes, probably the newQ you saw. My daughter has an external one on her desk, but it's pretty much the same as the unit they put in the 5.25 bays. I got it cheep somewere, and she thinks it's cool.

They have a rating of like 6watts max to each channel or something... I have the klipsch promedia 2.1's thx. They are 35 watts each channel!

Do I just ignore those ratings?

Equalizers are generally line level devices, not speaker level devices, so there really isn't an issue of wattage(unless you are planning to disassemble your speakers and install the equalizer after the amplifier and before the speakers, which probably just wouldn't work). Where did you hear about that 6 watt rating anyway? I didn't see anything about that on the spec chart.
 
I had one that came with a bare bones system I bought a few years ago. It was cheeze. I just put it in a crap P3 i had laying around and played with it but it had no real purpose. The range sucked. Maybe a better unit would be cool.
