4TB Not aligned properly

Ive tried EaseUS partition manager as well as the windows manager.

The 4TB Seagate drive does fine on the Seq benchmarks. but during 4k its extremely sluggish.

What am i doing wrong? Ive tried 4k and 512 cluster options. Not sure whats going on.
 
I doubt it was not aligned properly. I mean if you formatted it with Vista or above it will have proper alignment.

Bad disk.


Although do not expect good numbers with SSD type benchmarks. I mean a hard drive is expected to have less than 1MB /s in 4k reads and writes and IOPS of 100 or so with SSDs being around 40 times as fast.
 
Aren't Seagate drives supposed to handle 4KB alignment issues automatically, with no slowdown for unaligned partitions?
 
Either my HDD is bad or my motherboard is bad.

The drive goes offline and online. I got this drive to backup another drive that suddenly went offline so i unplugged it since i didnt have enough space else where to backup anything i can salvage.

Now im thinking the problem is with my setup.

Crap.

Gonna send this one back just incase
 
Check if the drive believes it is operating abnormally with CrystalDiskInfo.

Hasnt gone offline this morning. Gonna use seatools

Your benchmarks look fine / expected. However you have more than a few UltraDMA CRC errors which indicate a cabling problem or a bad SATA controller or problem on the drives SATA controller.
 
Seatools long fix failed halfway thru. Gonna start RMA for mobo and send drive back as well.


Ive had issues for quite some time with drives going offline and then reappearing.Rebooting seemed to fix it so i thought it was windows issue.
