Hi,

I have an Acer Aspire easyStore AH342-U2T2H Home Server that i feel runs to hot for my liking (60C idle), so i want to swap the included fan and add another close to the CPU, but there is no 3 pin connectors, the only source atm is the 4 pin PWM that its used for 120mm fan, just wondering if i could just buy PWM-Y Cable Adapter with Noiseblocker NB-Multiframe M12-PS 120mmx25mm Super Ultra Silent PWM Fan + Noiseblocker NB-Multiframe M8-P 80mm x 25mm Ultra Silent PWM Fan - 500-2000 RPM - 1-17 dBA, will i still see RPM reporting from either?

Firstly, you can plug a 3-pin fan into a 4-pin header and still use it. Most motherboards have a BIOS setting for PWM vs. non-PWM, so check this out if decide to go this route.

Yes you can buy a Y-cable for PWM fans. You will only get speed reporting from one fan (see the connectors on the fan-end, only one will have all four pins, the other will only have three.) I'm not sure how that works out if you have two fans with different speeds.

I'm using a 3-way PWM splitter, but all three fans are identical.
