- Horizon: Zero Dawn (just finished it last night actually and it's an amazing game)
- The Last of Us Remastered (One of my favorite games of all time now)
- Uncharted 4 (I would really recommend to get the Uncharted Collection that has the first 3 games as well despite them not supporting 4K - they're really fun and amazing games still)
- Rise of the Tomb Raider (This game gives the most graphical options to Pro owners; Performance @ 60 FPS, high IQ at 1080P, or true 4K - I enjoyed 4K the most though)
Seems like the new Xbox is worth waiting for, for my needs.
I would say if you can wait and afford it go with Xbox One X. Xbox One X has additional memory for higher resolution textures. Also if you have any interest in 4k blu rays the Xbox also has a UHD blu ray drive.
This has not been mentioned before, but that UHD drive is a huge deal. However, the PS4 by-far has the better games. So it will be a hard decision for OP.
1: Decide which platform the games you want to play are on,
2: Do you game online and if-so which system are your friends playing on, and
3: Are 4K UHD movies important to you. That'll narrow your decision down by a lot.
Also, let's not forget about cost differences. I have seen PS4 pro going for less than $400 during some sales and the Xbox One X is $499. So, cost is definitely another factor.
Mentioned the UHD drive in post #7, and I really do think Sony shot themselves in the foot with this decision. I've seen a lot of people who have decided to either wait for the X or take an upgrade path with an S due to the lack of a UHD player in the PS4 Pro.This has not been mentioned before, but that UHD drive is a huge deal. What are you going to play on it lol... all the good games are on playstation.
I know it.
I need the drive more than I need the games! Why Sony? Why?
That would be quite the slap in the face for early adopters. Even though I have an Xbox One S I'd still be pissed. It's quite possible Sony may release a revised PS4 Pro with UHD BD drive around the time the One X launches as well to compete better with it. It was like the #1 complaint people had with the Pro when it launched. I kinda expect them to drop the price on the Pro by $50 or so around that time as well.

Got it. Thanks. I still have some time before I'll "need" a console. Involved story but I bought a 65 OLED HDR 4K TV for my other house. It's installed and all, but I'm not there.
I highly doubt it. Sony looked at UHD and determined 4k is going to be mainly streaming. There would be less likely of them doing it in the future than more likely. It's quite possible Sony may release a revised PS4 Pro with UHD BD drive around the time the One X launches as well to compete better with it. I get that enthusiasts (like us, the people on this site) are seriously all about 4K Blu-Rays, but I honestly don't know anyone else who watches them. For that matter, I barely know anyone who is watching disk-based media in general. It usually comes down to Disney DVD's and Blu-Rays that were purchased and watched over and over by kids that don't care about 4K vs. 480p.
Then again, the PS4 Pro is an enthusiast machine...so clearly there's something unique there. I'd imagine Sony did the math on UHD and decided against it based upon that. I'm sure their movie rental service and TV streaming services played a role, too.
Time will tell if they were right or wrong, but I doubt it was a quick/easy decision. Personally, I wish it had UHD disk support, but I can't even tell you the last time I watched a new disk myself. The only disks I watch are the movies I've seen a million times and bought copies of years ago. Not like a UHD copy of Step Brothers or Bloodsport is bringing anything new to the table.

When PS5 comes out I wouldn't be surprised if it included UHD because they will need it to support true 4k gaming.
