4gb memory on Asus P5B?

Does anyone know if 4 1gig sticks work properly at DDR-800 on this motherboard? At the moment I'm running 2 1gb sticks of OCZ DDR-800 (OCZ2P800R22GK) and they work fine. But the manual says the memory should be run at DDR-667 if all 4 slots are populated. So does anyone know whether I can get away with running it at DDR-800 (I haven't bought the other 2 sticks yet)?

Thanks.

win xp only reads 3gb, so theres no need for 4gb. 2gb is almost an overkill already if you want more speed try Overclocking

i thought winxp 64 bit read all 4 sticks while xp 32bit read max of 2 sticks? also, i am wondering the same thing as OP. i eventually want 4gb sticks and am wondering how this factors in to performance with relation to everything else fsb, proc, etc

I dual boot between WinXP and 64-bit linux. I need 4gb because 2gb is not enough for what I'm doing (huge postgresql database and matlab). I know about the 32-bit WinXP limitation but this doesn't concern me as I only need the 4gb in linux. So I'm just wondering if anyone has gotten 4gb to work on this board.

do you have the p5b non deluxe?
I have the p5b-d with 4gbs of corsair 800mhz factory timed at 4-4-4-12 setting at 2.15v with the North Bridge at 1.45v with a couple of hours of orthos, it is running at home right now, will post again, once i know if all is good, but 2hrs sounds good right from the start.....
here is a thread that i started on my issues...

Thanks, that was helpful. Yes I only have the regular P5B. The vdimm goes up to 2.1 on my board and I don't believe it has north bridge voltage controls at all. Ah well, I guess it's a gamble. Would be nice if I could find a store that doesn't charge a restocking fee for returns.

I would say you should be able to make it work, if it would not run 800mhz with all slots populated, you could always run 667mhz with super tight timings and prolly get similar ram speed, btw, i get 4192MB/s in memtest86 on the 3008MB that show up. I have remap off.....

Yeah you're right, even 667 would be an incredible leap from what my PC's doing now (it's using 1.5gb of swap space as extra memory :p).

Just in case anyone is curious, I got the extra 2gb and all 4 sticks work perfectly well at DDR-800 (default voltage and everything else). Ran memtest for a few hours, no problems. 4gb ram at last!
