4C difference between 1st GPU and 2nd?

I just installed my Koolance NV2s onto my 7800GTXs and I noticed betweent the first and 2nd card the temp difference is 4-5C. I could swear I applied the AS5 on my 2nd card better(I've applied paste to my 6800 Ultras like 3-4 times when modding stuff so I have some experience).

I know its a Koolance and its not the greatest watercooling and I'm running a hot dual core CPU that is OCed(ran at 53C alone in the loop under load OCed).

As I type RTHDRIBL has been running for 10-15 mins at card 1 is at 51C and card 2 is at 56C.

Should this worry me or am I fine?

It's probably because the 2nd gpu is at the end of the loop before the water goes back to the rad. Those temps are still fine, I wouldn't worry about it much, just check temps occasionally for a day or two to be sure.

Could also be inaccuracies in the temp thermisters. Nothing to worry about though. Plus as the second poster stated, could just be due to gpu's position in loop, especially since it is a Koolance, aka, low flow system.

Welcome to the wonder world of "No shipped thermistor reports accurate temperatures".

Exactly, also every core is different. For the same reason why some cards OC better than others, some naturally run a bit cooler (but not very much). The water temperature is not going to be noticeably higher between the two cards, and even throughout the whole loop you will be hard pressed to make it rise by 2-3C. The difference is coming from the thermistor.

For kicks you could switch the position of the cards in the loop and see if you get different results. Anyways, look at the specs on the thermistor, they are usually rated for some insanely inprecise number like + or - 5C, meaning one thermistor on one card could report a 5C higher temp, and on another a 5C lower temp meaning two cards that are running at the same actual temp could be shown as being 10C off  They might as well say "To test temperature place finger on heatsink, if skin burns off in under 3 seconds turn off computer so it can cool down."

The other thing it could be is due to mounting variations. Block1 on Card1 is making better contact with the GPU, than Block2 on Card2.

bah i meant to put that in my post :( I guess the fact that I forgot means it is getting late and I should go to bed...I will let the man from down under answer midnight questions from now on ;)
