I just recieved an evga 7800gtx and ran a 3dmark in my system. I previouslly had 2x6800s, and all I did was remove the 6800's and inserted teh 7800. (no driver re-install). The system was in pretty bad shape (lots of bg apps), but the card still pulled in 8000 3dmarks.

I was surprised at that number, but more surprised that 3dmarks reported the card as running at 491Mhz/1250. (I thought It was supposed to be 450 !?!?)

after that, I ran the coolbits2 patch and checkd my clock settings. They were 275 and 1200. Is this correct for a 7800gtx?

Fool!

When a GTX enters a 3D application like 3DMark or a game the core speed increases by 40Mhz automatically.
Everyone knows about it. :p
Search google for 7800 GTX clocks and you will find the article I bet.

Wow. So you're saying that the card runs at 490? Why wouldn't they advertise that. That would be good for marketing, wouldn't?

aaand the 275 1200 clocks are for 2d programs

so if it increased by 40 mhz for a 3d app, it would run at 315 (which obviously isn't the case). Somebody messed up on their numbers or explanation :)

don't go by what 3dmark says, it is reading the clock differently

go by what coolbits says in the 3D clock part

450
+ 40

and brent is right anyways, I wouldnt go by 3dmarks reports because they are almost always wrong for me with Processor speed
