48XX Hotfix Drivers

just started testing with them a bit ago on 4850 xfire. vantage is about 1200pts higher on performance than gx2. still can't get cards to scale with crysis though...

Here's a guy that's done some good testing. It's increased the score in Vantage from P11958 with the 8.5 to the Beta 8.6 to Official 8.6 to finally 8.6 w/ the Hotfix at P16426.

That's a 28% increase (in Vantage anyway).

Xtreme Systems: ATI 4850 Hot fix drivers released

Notice the CPU was running a higher speed with the 8.5's, also. All things equal this seems to be the driver to have for the 48xx series.

crysis hasn't changed at all for me. i run the gpu bench at 1900x1200 on high settings, shaders on very high. i get around 21fps both before and after the hotfix. i also get 21 fps whether crossfire is enabled or disabled. obviously something is wrong with ati's drivers with crysis. my gx2 gets 32fps at same settings.

In Crysis 1.0 I could get HD3870 Crossfire and HD3850 Crossfire to scale, but after the patches I could no longer get them to scale and I actually got better performace by disabling crossfire. I think it is an NVIDIA conspiricy ;)

If it makes other games bettter it is all good.

I'm not seeing any improvement with the 4850 in CrossFire. Counter-Strike is slower with it on. ??? I'm I missing something?

wait for new drivers. give them a little time to iron everything out.

With Crossfire on its slower or ther is no improvement for Crysis, Mass Effect, Counter-Strike and Team Fortress 2. The only one so far that I have is Supreme Commander and that is the only one where I may not use it so I can use the two display setup with the large map. This is the same thing I saw with my old 1900 crossfire setup I thought after all the time and the X2 cards and more folks wanting to use Crossfire it would work better than this. Very disappointed.

crysis is a buggy shitty game PERIOD

my CF scales in HL2, HL2 ep1 and ep2, portal, bioshock, fear, cod4 is insane also.

I'm using Vista SP1. You? Seems odd for just Supreme Commander to work. I also installed the ATI HotFix. I'll try HL2 though if TF2 and CS is not working then I would not think that HL2 would work. What am I missing then? With the newer Crossfire setups, is there a CrossFire port? I have 4 DVI ports is one the Crossfire one or something? Just trying to fix this. Thanks for any help.

nope you should be able to hook either 2 of the top cards ports to start with, then after you know cf is enabled I believe the other cards ports work also.

I am on vista 64 sp1

Well I went from the drivers on the CD that came with my Visiontek card to the Hotfix driver and there was no noticeable difference in TF2 on XP SP3 and a Q6600 @ 3.0GHz.
