My 4890 was shutting off my monitor at seemingly random times.

During boot, in the BIOS menu, Windows desktop...
I took it out for a few hours and then tried again, same result. I then used the other PCI-E power connectors on my PSU and it started working. Works fine now. I had furmark running for about an hour and max temp was 81c.

I put in a support ticket and got an RMA#, but I don't know if I should send it in if its working now, even with the PCI-E connectors that were hooked to it when I was having the problem.

Should I RMA the card?
What do you think the problem might have been?

Thanks

My 4870 did something very similar. Then it actually caught on fire. MSI replaced it with a 5770 which to me , despite benchmarks, is better. It also uses less power.

I also had this problem... Mine was overheating... i had to manually set the fan.
