can people show me some benchmarks? is there a whole lot of difference, and would people CF a 5870 with a 4890? and is it even possible?

I don't think you will find that comparison, yet, because the 5800 is still so new. But CF 4890's have been benched against a GTX 295. Since the 5870 has compared (though somewhat unfavorably at times) to the GTX 295, you could use the GTX 295 as a sort of benchmark for 5870 performance.

Other considerations would by the typical: noise, heat, power consumption, game profiles, etc. Basically, if you are looking for benchmarks, you will probably not find them, yet. And if you are looking for advice you will almost certainly hear a resounding, "Duh, get the new one." ;)

4890 CF and a 5870 is about even. The 5870 and 4890 cannot be CF either.

lol, never saw "let me google that for you"

@same,

If you already have 4890 Crossfire (Like myself), the performance is equal to a 5870. and there isnt much sense in upgrading to it unless you want to crossfire the 5870 or wait for the X2.

If your looking for a new purchase there is no sense in going with 4890 crossfire. The 5870 is much more future proof.

As for benchmarks, as funny as the let me google that for you is, there still doesnt seem to be many if any crossfire vs single cards. The best bet is to compare it to the GTX295 which is about the performance of 4890 crossfire.

what if you already have 1 4890, would it be worth it to buy a 2nd to make Xfire or try to sell your 4890 and get a 5870 ?

I'm sure 2xHD4890 would stomp a single HD5870.

I don't post much only read, but you're the most delusional poster here on the forum.

Yeah in your other thread you think your 4770 in crossfire can keep up with a 5870 running DX10 vs DX11 on a useless benchmark. They can't even keep up with a single 4890 at high resolution in most real-time gaming benchmarks, but I am glad you enjoyed the 20 second demo though in "DX11" hah.

Should've bought a single HD4890 and crossfire them instead of buying two crippled cards.

What do your comments have to do with this thread?

I posted the Direct X11 benchmark because it's the only one that I know of.

Here is a proffesional review that shows 2 HD4870s out perform a single HD5870 in a benchmark.

So if 2 HD4870s out perform a single HD5870 it's not hard to figure out 2 HD4890s will out perform a single HD5870.

No need for 2 HD4890s here. I'm very happy with the awesome performance of 2 over clocked HD4770s.

Much later on when the prices of the HD5850s come down I want to do a HD5850 Xfire build. Either that or do a Quad 2xHD5770x2 if a HD5770x2 is ever built.

Also the Battle Forge benchmark is available if a HD5870 owner wants to run it for comparison with other video cards.
