I have 3 LCDs so I will need two video cards to output to them all.
What card should I pair with a 4890? Should I get one in the 4000 series to make sure that the drivers will work fine?
I don't want to run crossfire, it gives me nothing but problems since I would have to switch in and out of crossfire mode when I wanted to game.

Depends what you plan on doing with this third monitor. If nothing special, perhaps you can hit up a 4770, or even a 4850. I would suggest a 4770 though, since at $100, you really can't get anything better. I'm assuming you aren't running anything greater than a 19x12 res, however. If you want to go cheaper, you can always get an 8800gtx.

why are you suggesting such good cards for a third LCD?
i don't plan on doing anything graphically intensive on it.
at most maybe play a movie on it.

Just get a 4xxx series card, any of them will do fine. Maybe you can find the 4830 around for 50ish, if not, just get one of the cheaper ones.

Any ATI card would be enough, even something like a 3400 or 4350. Since this will be driving a secondary monitor, you won't need anything powerful, so just get the cheapest recent ATI card you can find.

what i would like to know though is if i should go for a 4000 series, will there be any issues mixing a 3000 series with a 4890?
