4870x2 Shuts Computer Power Off

wow, did you not read his specs?

To OP:

I myself and i know a few others having pretty much exact same issues. (specs in sig) Your systems reboots in games etc.. correct?

I'm currently running everything stock.. and the only way to fix this is to underclock my shit!:eek::eek:

No not reboot, a hard power off, like i pulled the plug or hit the power button on the ps.

There are also different grade power cords. Look at the codes on them and google it.

blah blah blah

Have you seriously not tried just running your CPU and RAM at stock to see if that fixes this yet? Because that would take something like 10 minutes to apply the change and test it. That should be like the first thing you do when you have system instability with new hardware and such. Reset everything to defaults so you can better isolate the problem. Also if you are worried about the circuit actually causing a problem (which its likely not) then just more the PC onto another circuit to test. If that still fails, could be a bad PSU, video card/psu compatibility issue...

Im collecting ideas to try when i am home. I'm going to be retuning from a business trip and i wanted to collect some ideas to try. Its not like im unwilling to try your guys suggestions but i need to have access to my computer to try them. ;)

What was your old power supply? You never mentioned what it was in your OP. Did you upgrade because you knew the old one would not work or did you do it to get the extra power. if the old one meets the requirements then maybe you could try that one. Just a suggestion.

This looking alot like some here have specultated about. Here are a few sugestions. Order is by priority.

1) Make sure you are using the correct 6pin and 8pin connectors from the 12v rails and that they are well connected to the card.

2) Remove GFX drivers with a driver cleaner. Reboot and enter Mb bios

3) Reset pc to default speeds. Save and exit

4) Update drivers/bios of Mb chipset, soundcard and any other device to lastest version and reboot

5) Reinstall beta 8.9 drivers. Reboot

If you still encounter problems

6) Remove any unneeded devices if problem is solved this way, work yourself back up by re-adding the devices one at a time till problem resumes. This is done to troubleshoot a conflictiing device or even power issues.

7) Try card in another PC

8) Try Pc in another house with better circuts

Good luck

It's the wall circuit, plain and simple.

Your system is fine.

Just get a big ass extension cord and plug it in somewhere to the highest rate breaker in the house and see if that cures the problem.
