4870 Wont Post

Hi yall,

My 4870 will not post. When I replace it with my GTX295 or 9600GSo the machine boots up fine. With the 4870, the machine will turn on, but the monitor will not get any input. I have both 6 pin power connectors attached to the 4870, and no go. Any suggestions? Here is my setup. I know the card works because it used to work before I built my system (bought it used, saw it turn on and work fine).

Q9300
Coolermaster Hyper 212+ Cooler
Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3P
8GB DDR3 (2 sticks of Patriot and 2 sticks of Avexir)
4870 512mb
1TB Samsung + 2TB Samsung 5900RPM
Thermaltake Toughpower 700W PSU
 
I had a GTX 260 sometimes it wouldnt post, had to mess with the seating within the pci. Give it a go. Pull reseat wiggle.
 
Only things I can suggest are trying a different slot and/or trying a different PC altogether.

I suppose maybe another piece of hardware could be causing the problem, but that would be very strange.. only other thing I'd bother trying would be a different power supply, but I wouldn't hold my breath for that one. Especially if it was working fine before with two other cards.

Unfortunately I would have to agree with Spacing here. It sounds like the card is dead, although you might try reseating it, as a fellow member suggested.
 
I hear putting dead cards into an oven will oftentimes resuscitate them.

I have actually done that on an old 8800GTX and it worked great!!! It is still in a pals system, and has been in there now for about a year and a half:p
