4870 system won't boot anymore

I've bought an HIS 4870 a few weeks ago and I have since the beginning graphical glitches in 2D, but everything is fine in games, performance is top notch and very smooth.

I had system lock-up a few times just after the booting process, graphical glitches appears on the desktop and then the screen goes black.

Only several reboots would fix the problems.

But now my rig won't boot at all : severe artifacts everywhere on the screen or it's all black and the hard drive activity light is always on. I can hear the video card fan go up in speed for a few seconds.

I've tried the 8.6, 8.7 beta, 8.7 and 8.8 beta drivers but nothing changes. The card was not overclocked and it's not overheating either.

My card is not in my rig anymore I currently use the onboard gpu and my system is fine . I'm using Windows XP SP2

Any help would be appreciated ! Thanks !
 
Do you see your card heat up really fast when you load up windows? and do you have enough air movement in the case to support it?

Not calling you out but trying to prevent it from happening again, these cards like having a fan feed into them it helps out alot with keeping their temps down, turned my fans down to 30% put a fan blowing vertically into two of them and the idle temps are now down to 51C, loads into 72-75.
 
are you using the Zalman HP600 in that system?

not saying that's the problem, just that I have 3 and one just up and died...:(
 
The video card has proper ventilation, it has a 120mm fan just in front of it.

Didn't have any problem with the psu with my old 2900XT and the card is ok in games, smooth fps and no freezing at all wich is strange.

Probably just a dud then, happens.

I have 2 HiS cards and they are still kicking.
