ok so i have an 4870 and when ever my pc boots to windows 7 i get all theses little blocks and then the screen locks and it bsod saying atipakmanger something now i can boot in to safe mode and bois all day and i removed all ati drives and its fine if i put any ati drives or let windows install them next boot same thing hapes what could be going on? had this gpu for about 2 years

o so i tried the card in my other pc what would cause a card to work fine for hours whit no drivers yet once i put drivers on the pc it freaks out and bhen craps out?

With no drivers, Win7 isn't using any of the 3D portions of the card to accelerate anything. Once the drivers get installed, it starts trying to use the card, which is dying, which causes the hard locks.

I was shipped a defective Radeon 4890 that would boot with no drivers, but hard lock as soon as they were installed. Obviously dead.

ah ok dam thought it might have been some thing i could do in software to fix it, in the past when i had a bad card it would fuck up all over the place looks like im stuck whit my 4290 igp till i can get a new card
