4870 Crossfire stuttering?

I'm running Crossifre X 4870 1GB cards, and I keep reading about stuttering during gameplay. I've never noticed this at all while gaming. Is there any way I can thrash the cards to observe this, or any way I can be sure I won't be afflicted by this issue. Is it hitting EVERYONE or just a select few configurations?
 
I am worried that my system may become afflicted by this. I am also worried that I made a mistake by buying a companies "problem" video cards.

I was just asking if there was a way to run a diagnostic tool, or some program/game to be sure that my system is NOT doing it.
 
I don't think there's even a general consensus on what the stuttering issue is, let alone a diagnostic tool.

You didn't buy a companies "problem" video card. Micro stuttering is a side effect of multi-GPU solutions, and this means both nVidia's SLI and ATi's Crossfire.

There are a number of topics on the matter, and a little Googling will net you many more, but here is one article discussing micro stuttering.

Well what's interesting is...I have been running multi gpu solutions for years and have never had ANY form of stuttering, micro or otherwise.

Also, Anandtech seems to have a lot to say about this regarding ATI video cards and stuttering, due to driver issues.

I currently don't have the stutter, as far as I can tell. I was just ASKING if there was a way to thrash my system and see if it would cause the issue to present itself.
 
It's not like it's something you can do by pushing it hard. The issue appears under very specific conditions, and unless some one has made a utility that forces these specific conditions, you can't intentionally recreate it.
 
dont got problem with 4870CF ..

but I did notice a lot of micro-stuttering with 9800 GX2 and 3870X2 ....

seem 4800 series seem to have a bit of fix on that..

Hehe saying that it happens under "very specific conditions" and "can't intentionally recreate it" sounds funny.
 
some stuttering is also related to temperature sensor programs running and polling the video cards if you do experience it, turn off those programs.
 
if it isn't broke don't fix, my opinion. I run a pair if 4870 in CF on a biostar i45 and have not experienced those issues thankfully.

Yeah, I 'spose it does. I guess I should have said that it happens under very specific conditions and you can't artificially recreate the specific conditions under which it happens.
