4870 crossfire question *dumb question*

I have a dumb question...

I have been running my 4870 1GB's for a week now, and I've had BOTH crossfire interconnect cables going from card to card. Do I need to have TWO of these ribbon cables connected or just one? I ask this because I'll look at pictures of people's setups on here, and some have 1 connector...and others have 2. So which is correct? :confused::confused:
