I recently put a new computer together and installed Crysis to give it a test run. So far, Crysis seems to run at fairly smooth framerates even on very high settings so I was pretty happy. That was until I started getting hardware crashes. These crashes are so severe I have to reboot the machine. I figured it was probably the outdated ATI drivers on the disk (no internet on the machine at the moment, I have to buy a new wifi adapter or get Comcast to turn on the coax plug in my room but that's another story). So I went online and got the latest drivers for the 4870 on Vista 64 and installed them. The game crashed within a couple of minutes just like before. One thing I noticed was that the fan wasn't kicking up so I installed a fan controller and set the speed to 75% and the game crashed again. My question is, do I have a bad card or has anyone else experienced this with the 4870? So far playing at high settings instead of high seem to be doing ok but I was playing on very high early with no problems as well. This is very random. Also, a co-worker of mine said he has the same problem. I think I have plenty of juice coming out of the PSU but I have listed all the pertinent hardware I purchased with the system. Any help is welcome.
