anyone getting their cards to scale with crysis? 3dmark scores are ridiculously good (typical ati card). cannot get crysis to scale though, even with hotfix.

Don't much like the sound of that... My board is not x38/x48 but has 2 PCI Express x16 slots. From the docs:
- CrossFire mode: Each x16 slot operates at x16 bandwidth.


I have two new 4850 cards in a Crossfire setup but every game I’ve tried save one has seen either no improvement or some games are actually slower with it on. I’ve tried Crysis, Mass Effect, Half-LifeL2, Team Fortress2, Counter-Strike and only Supreme Commander sees an increase in frame rate and it’s the one game that I would not use Crossfire on as it has support for using a second display for an in game map.

If you look at my sig, I'm running an Asus Maximus Formula X38, so it's not bandwidth. Plus, I see great gains in both 3dmarks, CS Source benchmark and COD4. Crossfire is working fine, it's just the one game I cannot get it to work with. Too bad to. I'm one of the few who appreciates/likes Crysis, so I really want it to work.

Hate to burst your bubble but unless you have the X38/X48, you definitely can't run both at 16x at the same time. If you have a P45 or a Asus Blitz, you have a splitter type design that allows each run to run at 8x if both used at the same time. This is Intel's way of enforcing enthusiasts to buy the high end boards.

I apologize. I didn't even catch the fact you're on and AMD solution. It's so rare to see someone run an Athlon processor over Core 2 when they can afford it (seeing how they have crossfire) that I was shooting blindly. I have no knowledge of the AMD crossfire chipsets. Only thing you can do is confirm if you have PCIe 2.0 or if it is still a 1.0 setup.

Just noticed you already stated you had hotfix in OP. Sorry~ what resolution are you running Crysis at? I noticed a huge jump in crossfire when running at 1920x1200. Benchmarks published thus far show little performance increase if running a low resolution.

I've read that. My GX2 and old 3870x2 also scale well. Anandtech also reports the 4850's in xfire scaling very well. I just can't find another person or site that can get them to scale in Crysis.

well, we kind of have "official" drivers that came with the retail cards. i would expect another week before we see an update from the hotfix.

8.5 came with the cards. 8.6 came out right after the cards did. 8.6 (or hotfix) are probably what you're going to want to use until 8.7 come out.
