I have a Sapphire HD4850 and I went to play a DVD and Windows Media Player said that a compatible DVD decoder was not installed. So I went back and pulled out the original CD and installed everything that was on there. I noted that the AVIVO codecs were part of the install. I then rebooted and tried to crank up a DVD and same thing, no DVD deccoder installed. I thought that a DVD decoder would have been part of the AVIVO codecs.

I'm using XP SP3, fresh install less than a week ago.

This is probably user error on my part, assuming that, what am I doing wrong?

OK so I dug out the original box that my DVD player came in and it included a copy of PowerDVD. I installed it and now I am able to play DVD's through Windows Media Player. It's an older version of PowerDVD but it works. Thanks j3ff86.
