4850 Crossfire

So I have been thinking about buying another 4850 for Crossfire. I would be buying an ASUS 4850. I was wondering if there was anyone out there who knows what these bad boys can do with the power of TWO! Please let me know.

1 8800GTS 512mb Max everything no AA/AF @ 1920x1200 70avg FPS

1 4850 1920x1200 MAXX AA/AF 75avg FPS

2x Xfired 4850 1920x1200 MAXX AA/AF 91avg FPS (stays on 91 very rare drops if it does it drops to like 85 then goes straight back to 91)

Sweet! Thank you sir! So do you wish you had bought a 4870? Or are you glad you crossfired 2 4850s?
From what I can see and I know this isn't how it "works" out, but from the reviews and benchmarks. I have seen that crossfiring 2 4850's in price and performance is about a 4870 and a half. Now 2 4850's won't be as good as 1 4870. That's just not the way it works. Yet, it seems to be a better performance option for myself. Especially since I game at high res and already bought one. Especially sine I will only be spending 50$ more then a 4870. TOTAL.

am happy with the 4850s cause they are pretty much a 4870 with gddr3, and little less on the clock/mem speed. Hell for 150x2 after rebate and free s/h hard to pass up. (when i purchased 4870 were out of stock and were 310+ s/h)

Also they use a lot less power and only one power plug!

I got s1s on both of mine run great and passivly cooled

I get plenty of eye candy out of one. The 1gb card, may not be what it costs. Everytime I've ordered a 512mb verson compared the 256 it wasn't any better or much faster. Infact they were more unstable due to the fact that they made bigger ram run the same speed. Had that problem with my 512mb 2600XT.

The mem speed on the 4850 is higher clocked than the memory on the 4870. GPU clock on the 4870 is higher though.

What? The memory on the 4870 is gddr5 so that works out at 3,600mhz stock!

Mem on 4870 is clocked at 900mhz and mem on 4850 is clocked at 993mhz. What you are talking about is effective clock/data rate.

I have a 3 year old Zalman VF-900cu. I wonder if it's going to keep a 4850 cool... lol. Which I do believe would, since a X1900XTX it was cooling was hotter.

i just bought 2 4850's for crossfire and couldnt be happier.... for 1920x resolution theyre perfect.... i play all of my games maxed out and only thing that gives them a run for their money is crysis but then again that game doesnt take too kindly to ati cards.

if you dont need to use alot of eye candy then even 1 is still enough for most games... but if ur like me and want everything on full wack then i suggest 2 lol.

I have a vf900 on my 4850. 65C full load from furmark, 37C idle. That's with 100% fan speed.
