4850 CF test

Wow i was considering just sticking with a single card solution (currently I have 1 8800 Ultra) of the GTX 280 . I have a crossfire board (long story) and this dual 4850 CF solution looks great and costs a good amount less.. damn ATI is finally coming back with something.

Sry about that guys i got my signature now :)

BTW ill also post screens when i get home... that crysis bench:) But i dont think it's important.... Crysis is a crap game. What is importand for me is how it runs Age of Conan and Race Driver Grid. Age of Conan is just OWNAGE .... Overcrowded Old Tarantia with bloom/high/1920:1200/4xAA minimum 30 fps. GX2 was lagging as hell. And Race driver Grid? That just PURE OWNAGE and FPS is like +80% from my older GX2. And this is important for me i dont care about some crappy other games like Lost Planet etc...

And about that 250$... I don't care... I just like to have ONE powerfull card
andI I really dont care how much it costs...and HD4850 won't be it, HD4870 wont't be it either... but perhaps HD4870X2 will beat 280GTX. But i'm sure that Nvidia has also some plans so we might see VGA war this fall....I'd like to see one :)

If true, very good numbers with the HD 4850 Crossfire setup. Waiting to see the real-world gameplay numbers and also how they fare at even higher resolutions with higher levels of AA.

3x HD4850 would still be cheaper than the GTX 280. Somehow the 790FX mobos look more interesting now. If two HD 4850s trade blows with the GTX280, how about three? :p

Don't you have to buy Phenoms for that?

Even if the new 790GX/790FX "rev 2" motherboards with SB750 and fixed clock generators come out, allowing the 9850BE to overclock to 3.4Ghz, people will just still get the Q6600 instead.

The big money is on Nehalem, and the first motherboards that support it will more or less include 3-4 PCIe x16 slots (3+ should run in x8 mode though)

given that i have an intel chipset and i love intel chipsets than nvidia chipsets getting an ati video card is something im definitely looking forward to.

the 4850 shows a lot of promise

no u can use a highly clocked A64X2 and be fine.

It's gonna be slightly bottlenecked, and more in specifically 2 games- WiC and Crysis (terrible architecture dependant coding)

Phenom's a better deal for now- when the 2.3/2.4Ghz Tricore reaches 3+Ghz on the SB750 we'll see some better vibe around it.
