4850 CF Problem

Hey, so I have a problem I haven't been able to find anywhere else. I just upgraded my system to a Q6600, ASUS Rampage Formula X48 MoBo, 2 ASUS HD4850's, and 4gb of 1066 Gskill mem. I installed everything and it went well, then I tried to play World in Conflict and I got crazy artifacting in the game(pics below). Same thing in COD4 and in GRID even the main menu. Flight Simulator X works fine. 3dMark06 the problem happens around the firefly test and then the rest of the way through. Each card works fine individually. I have tried one bridge, two bridges, 8.5, 8.6, and 8.7 drivers. Also, when I reboot the computer the monitors reset there resolution from 1680x1050 to 1280x1040 in the 8.7 driver. I have upped the fans to run faster. I noticed in CCC I cannot select the Overdrive option, it is greyed out and checked.

The rest of my setup is Silverstone Zeus 650 PSU, Windows XP SP2, dual monitors. I am out of ideas, no clue what to do.

whats the airflow situation like in your case and what are the temps on the cards idle / load ?

to get started, i assume you installed a fresh copy of Windows with this new build, correct?

if so, did you uninstall CCC drivers and run driver cleaner b/w GFX driver installs?

do you have all the latest Windows Updates?

if yes to all the above, i'd say either the board isnt playing nice (possibly bad) or the XF port on one of the cards is bad (never heard of this before).

try reinstalling Windows to eliminate it as a possibility.

Check your drives out and temps, there could be a problem with one of those.

thanks for the replies. I will reinstall XP tonight, I may try Vista on a separate drive also to see how that works. The case is a Thermaltake Armor, 2x120 and 3x90 fans and the room temp is like 67F. The cpu is below 40C, the 4850s at idle are below 50 and load is less than 80. To make sure it wasn't the temps I stuck a room fan at the side of the case with the side panel off to see if it would make a difference.

Well, I installed Vista and it seems to be working, although I haven't fully tested it. I ran it through 3DMark Vantage a few times and I didn't get anything. It was pretty late by that time so I'll try some games tonight. Also, it's only 32 bit Vista, I'll have to get my hands on a 64bit version. And then I reinstall XP to see if it works and I can then dual boot.

Thanks for the help guys, hopefully it works.
