4850 can't enable dx10?

Just upgraded from a x1900xt to a 4850. The performance so far is great and the improvement is large, but whenever I try and boot Crysis in dx10, or use the dx10 mode in bioshock (the only two dx10 games I own), it won't let me. Crysis immediately hard crashes to the desktop (I get a black screen for 2 frames or so, which tells me it's TRYING to boot), and in bioshock the dx10 option is grayed out and can't be selected. I've tried the 8.6 and the hotfix drivers (which I'm running now), and neither have helped. Unless I've overlooked something, I have no idea what I'm doing wrong here.

Running Vista, btw (of course).

Thanks for any help.
