480GB SSD suggestions?

That's a PCIe SSD, with much faster sustained read/write speeds. IOPS aren't bad at 100k read/write.

But would you really be able to tell the difference in games and such. The price is insane for only 480gb. I guess some people might think so! hehe

If you go with two drives in RAID keep in mind that you have to have Z77 in order to get TRIM support.

I must have been gone a while, I wasn't even aware of this  How can I verify if it's working on mine?

You should go to Intel's web site and install the newest version of RST. I believe that 11.5 is the earliest version that supports RAID with TRIM.

Not in games - only time you'd really notice anything is if you frequently move lots of large files around (such as with video editing), or in a server role.

Does anyone know the difference between these two OCZ vertex 4 drives? One has the model number 512.M and the other has 512.G

Other than the model numbers and maybe the warranty, I cant tell the spec differences? The $399.99 one looks tempting....

As far as I know, the .M has Micron NAND instead of Intel NAND and is a lower performing model.

Just got a Corsair GS 480GB off ebay for $299.99. Lets hope its not too good to be true....user said it is blank, unregistered with Corsair & tested for functionality for an hour according to Crystaldiskinfo. Will know by Thursday I guess.

If all goes well, good deal in the end?

Very good deal, Corsair GS is one of the fastest drives on the market with Toggle memory and you paid Asynchronous pricing for it. Congrats. :)

I assume that price is wrong. ROFL.

Nobody would pay that!?

I did. It's only money! ;)

It is on the higher end, but not by much when you break it down. It's basically a RAID card with two mSATA blade style 240GB SSDs set to RAID0.

So by the time I purchased a RAID card and two SSDs, I'd be close in price. Difference is, this has a 5 year warrantee and fits nicely in a PCIe slot. Makes for a clean install.

100% plug and play as well. Not a singe driver to worry about.

Also, I can upgrade the blades as storage gets cheaper down the road.

BTW, Photoshop hauls ass with this thing now.
