I have an MSI 4670 and it's loud, it's an HTPC case and my s1 rev 2 won't fit! so is the stock 4770 quiet or loud?

this is the model im talking about

ooh then good luck , the reviews about it says that the fan is quite good and not loud,

and very nice bang for buck card.

Not sure if it matters to you, but XFX will be releasing a version that will exhaust hot air out the rear of the case instead of simply dumping it into the case. It won't be available until the end of May though and who knows how loud or quiet it will be.

Based on the following two reviews the HD 4670 and the HD 4770 produce the same amount of noise using the stock cooler:

HD 4770

That looks bare bones and cheap as well. Wouldn't be surprised it is noisey as well.

The XFX HD4770 cooler is missing important heat sinks just like the other reference cooler that most HD4770s are being sold with.

I have 2 HD4770s in X fire and they are nothing like the HD4850 or HD4890. Much more quieter.

which model is yours?

I don't think it really matters as all current HD 4770 uses the standard design shown in your picture. The HD 4770 video card simply rolls off the production line and the sticker for the appropriate brand is slapped on top.

There are a few OEMs that manufactures all ATI video cards. One of them is the parent company of Sapphire.

except all of the reviews, the ones you showed too, use a different cooler :p

The point is all currently sold HD 4770 uses the exact same cooler. If SonDa5's HD 4770s have different coolers, then I would be very surprised.

Only XFX have provided a release date of a HD 4770 with a different cooler.

Agreed. HD4770 isn't that loud at all. I saw a sonic signature/sound bench of idle and load when I was thinking about buying it (this was a review with the retail coolers).
