47 hours to verify a raid 6 array. does that duration seem normal?

i started a verify with fix process on the five drive raid 6 array connected to my adaptec 5805 controller.

the process took 47 hours !!!

does that duration seem normal?

It's about 6 hours to verify my 14 TB linux software raid 6 of 9 x 2TB hitachi drives.

The slow time may be a user interface setting. I know that hardware arrays (along with linux software raid) have the ability to limit the bandwith of the verify operation.
