anyone have this screen that uses it for your tv? I am looking into a new television and this has an attractive price, but seeing it in store at best buy today, well the image quality did not look that good. Looked kinda of washed out, low black levels and colors not so vivid. I have read thats because it needs to be adjusted from out of the box settings.

I was debating between this and the 46" samsung 1080p screen, the westinghouse is a grand less though and I would go that route if the image quality issue I witnessed is just a fluke or can be corrected with setting adjustments.

thanks

I have that monitor in the 42 inch version. Its a monitor because there is not a built in tunner. I have it down at my beach house as the primary tv there. I have it connected to a hd direct tv feed. In my opinion it looks great. It is very bright. That was one of my needs because we have a lot of windows in that room. Image quality is very good especially for the price point. It looks as good or better than my Samsung 50inch DLP that I have in my home. You will have to calibrate it some to your liking, but it should not take long, mine did not. I took mine and connected it to my pc before I took it to the beach and I was very, very impressed. Text was nice and crisp and it was very legible. Games were jaw dropping. I hated to take off my desk. So in other words I would recomend it. However, my brother has the Samsung 1080p monitor that I believe is the same as you are asking about. It also is very nice and has good picture quality. He went with that because they had a deal at best buy that made that TV a bit more attractive, plus he wanted a tuner built in, so that eliminated the westy. If you dont need the tuner I would go for the westy, but if you want a tuner and a monitor that (to me) has a nicer and more solid looking frame, I would go with the samsung but that is just asthetics.

Also bestbuy sends a crappy signal to the less expensive TVs and a nice signal to the more expensive TVs... they might even adjust the picture settings on the cheaper TVs to make them look worse... you can't really trust what the picture quality looks like in the store.

yeah, best buy probably does do that.. i remember frys would send a crappy signal to some lcd monitors and purposely mess withtthe settings to make it look like shit for some of the lower end ones

thanks for hte input all, I have been reading alot about the westy on avsforum and most people there recommend it. Plus today I stopped by another best buy and they had two of the westy 47"s setup and looked very good. I think I will be going the westinghouse route.

thanks again!
