Putting together a setep with a watercooled 4690k. Not looking to break records, but how much further can I push the card with a delid and liquid metal?

Just for fun? Sure!!!! Test the limits of your cooler setup and deliding! They are cheap enough now to mess around with!

How much extra room does delidding gain me?

Unless you are really bored then whats the point? A couple hundred more mhz tops is not going to make a 4 core cpu any more relevant at this point.

The point is that I already have the cpu and it's already water cooled. Why not get more out of it if I can? It's not like it costs money to delid, just patients. It's basically free performance since I alreadyvhave everything.
And the 4690k is plenty relevant still

First we need to clear up terminology, too many throw around delidding when they mean relidding. Delidding is removing the noobshield and running bare die which is how I run all of my CPUs and means no HDT heatsink as only one heatpipe would contact the bare die. This enabled me to gain 100MHz stable on air with my 4670k (4.6 to 4.7) which is not much but at a lower voltage than before which made it worth the effort. You will see this same effect relidding as well so it'll always get my vote. I even used a blow torch on my Q6600 G0 IHS way back and also gained 150MHz at a lower voltage.
