Hi,

For know I like to get the E4300 , E6300 or E6320 and later in the year I will have a big upgrade to a Quad cpu 45nm, DDR3 and the New Bearlake Motherboard and the 8900 card if it comes out.
Which cpu will give me more performance in games any suggestions please?

Sorry I did not see the other post like this

If you know for a fact you want a quad cpu later in the year, id suggest buying the cheapest cpu now possible..... Get the E4300 for $117 or so

Assuming you use after-market cooling then it depends heavily on your motherboard.

If your motherboard can hit very high FSB's then the e6300 is the best choice. If not, then the higher multiplier of the e4300 makes it the better choice.

In addition, if you do go with the e6300... Don't. Go with the E6320, since that will put it 5% further ahead at the same clockspeed in many applications.

Thanks for info Plus I do not overclock anything and the motherboard is MSI 965
Platinum.

Yeah, if you're planning to upgrade to Quad, stick with the cheapest C2D. Even though, long run, the extra cache of the 6320 will be appreciated, you're not looking long-term.

I'd probably go with the 6320 b/c the 4Mb L2. So assuming you reach a similar overclock with any of the 3 chips, the 6320 would be the fastest b/c of the larger cache.

Then 2nd choice would be the 4300, b/c of the higher multiplier. Also you might want to get this if you're going to be using low quality components. IE: cheap mobo & ram. It will be easier to overclock b/c of the higher multi = lower FSB needed.

Last choice would be the 6300.

Anyone suggesting the E6300 when the E6320 is priced the same are fools. In my book, it's either E4300 to tide till the next tech or E6320 for a excellent overall system.

Go with the 4300 and OC it if you plan on upgrading to 45nm later on. The 4300 will hold you nicely till then and is cheap as hell. This is my same upgrade path, I got my 4300 in March and waiting on $266 Q6600 in Q3.

Yeah if youre gonna go e6320, its a far better deal to get the E6420 with the 8x multiplier.

If I were gonna pick a cpu, it would be the E4300 or E6420.

Since you plan on upgrading soon, go with the E4300 and a mild OC. And by mild, I mean: 9 * 266 = 2.4Ghz (same speed as an E6600 but with 2MB less cache).

Also, you can save on the ram too by going with the the cheapest kit out of the 2 speeds (DDR2-533/667). The stock intel cooler is good 'til about 2.8-3Ghz, and 3.2Ghz is the avg max of the E4300 anyhow. Get DDR2-667 if you want a higher OC (9*333=3Ghz).

Thanks for everyone's info. :) I have purchased the E6420 cpu for $248 AU It is running
brilliantly, with the MSI 965 Platinum board and the MSI 8600GT OC.
Plus I did not have to flash the bios for anything.:)

i just bought a E4300 $125, MSI P6N SLI Platinum MB $169, Geil 2GB (1gb x2) DDR 800 $130 from newegg.

i origionally orderd the cpu and mb as a combo from mwave.com which lowerd thier pricing of the cpu $2 down to $115 and the MB there was 154. which would make it $25 cheaper before shipping. but they didnt like my credit/debit card for some reason so i didnt feel like waiting for it to get sorted out so i cancled my order and went to newegg.

i do plan on overclocking it. i bought a Tuniq Tower also. just hope that fits in my case lol.

im on a really tight budget right now so the E4300 was really my only choice for a cpu especially sence ill have an overwhelming impulse to go Quad once more games take advantage and the prices are much cheaper.
