I am wanting to get a 42 inch LCD TV for my computer to watch movies, TV, and play games. Is this a bad idea? I usually don't see people with anything over 30 around here. I will probably do a switch or a dual set up with another 21inch for regular use. What kind of computer would I need to run a setup like this? I will be wanting it to have all the home theater stuff in it too. What would be a recommended 42-46 inch TV that is decently priced that could be used to play games on. I'm not to picky with precise specs.

I'm afraid your icons would like a big large with such a big screen. Even for full HD :s.

My icons are just fine at 42". Just make sure you get a full 1080p display. See what's cheap in your area and then look up those models on avsforum and see how they fare for pc use.

42" isn't too big as long as you're not too close. For example, at the very back wall of a very deep desk -- 3.5 feet viewing distance. It'll look just like a 24" display from 2 feet away, in terms of angular vision coverage. Or living-room or basement room entertainment computer system. (In fact, you could go even bigger -- I have a 120" screen with a ceiling-mounted projector -- a big hoot for games, even Nintendo Wii playing tennis standing up with near-life-sized Mii's on-screen.)

Brightness should be cranked down, to computer-monitor levels, as many TV's are too bright and the brightness induces extra eyestrain.

Definitely get native 1080p, and make sure it is game-friendly (less lag).
