423 to 478 adapter

i gotta 423 p4 cpu and my motherboard just died. i need a new one, but the majority of 423 motherboards use RIMMs. ive seen some 423 to 478 adapters and was wondering if any can tell me if they work w/o any problems and do the maker of the adapter makes much of a difference.

Those adaptors are usually the other way around, they let you put a 478 CPU in a 423 motherboard.

You really would be better off getting a new CPU.. most (if not all) socket 423 P4's are williamettes.. Those are slower than current Celerons at the same MHZ.

well it's the other way around for me. i have a 423cpu/mobo, but my mobo died. i need a new one, but i dont wanna go w/ rambus (wayyyy overpriced). thanks for the help tho. guess ill just buy a cheap intel board or somethin.

but that would cost more than just buying a 423 board tho. i saw a $50 intel board im gonna order. it was my dummy dc, so im kinda missin it right now.
