Ok, I am trying to decide what would be a better option to replace my Opteron 148 @ 2.75 ghz.
w/e I buy, I plan on ocing it, and the higher the oc the better.
Specs are in the sig, my memory can do about 265mhz w/o much problem.
I am trying to decide what would be better.
the 4200+ is 2.2 ghz (11x multi) which means I can clock higher w/o dividers, but 2x512L2 < 2x1MB (how much of a difference would I see?), Its also cheaper than a 165/170.
At newegg right now an OEM 4200+ is going for 72.50 and a 170 is going for 120, for 47.50 extra I get 200 less mhz, double the cache and the fact that Opteron sounds better than athlon (imo).
I don't know what differences between the two in overclocking, But to the best of my knowledge opterons are binned better, but opterons may have an edge, I haven't seen any recent overclocks with toledo cores.
Also, what are the good steppings now adays, or doesn't anyone follow 939s anymore?
