Just wondering if there is anyone on here that has had any experience with this display. I was at one point looking at getting the 37" Westy but seeing as how buydig.com has the 42" for $1272 shipped I was thinking of getting it. The specs are pretty much the same as the 37" but just needed some user opinion on it before pulling the trigger. It will be used as a TV only and not hooked up to my PC, although that may change at some point., but I will have a 360 hooked up to it via VGA. I have read some online reviews of this display and they generally praise the display with good color and good response times. I am not worried about the lack of NTSC tuner as I use a cable box anyway. Thanks for any input.

I had it and returned it for the 47. I had no complaints and after seeing the 37,42 and 47 I can honestly say they are all amazing monitors at...well amazing prices.

I was debating the 42W2 and the TX-42 as well but the big differences are the 4 HDMI ports (No DMI) (as opposed to 1 HDMI and 2 DVI on the 42W2) and TV Tuner on the TX-42 for an extra $700. MSRP will be $1999 for the TX-42. I just hope the 42W2 takes a nice plunge in price once the TX-42 comes out. I'd like to get a 42W2 for about $1000. Other than those 2 things the stats are pretty much the same.

thanks for the replies. to me 1 HDMI port is more than enough for me. The only thing I could see plugging in it in the future would be a PS3, if I get one, and if want HD-DVD I will just use the 360. If anything, like Ohgami said, the TX will be good for the price drop on the 42w2, so I may hold out for a couple more months to see what happens.

Well the TX series looks to be wider gamut and better contrast. Also they have some sort of dynamic backlighting tech and a built in Tuner.
The tuner will probably make it so the price doesn't drop quite as rapidly as the original 42W2. However, I expect the street pricing to follow a similar inverse logarithmic path, where the first couple months after release will have the greatest price reductions.

I hear the PS3 had some HDMI compatibility handshaking probs with the Westinghouse panels, but I am not sure what the deal is with it now.
Also, I don't think you will see the 42W2 for much longer after the release of the TX series. Usually manufacturers try to clear inventory out before the new model arrives.

I was hung up on the Contrast ratio too then someone on this forum mentioned it's a Dynamic CR of 5000:1 not a true CR. But IF the Price Diff ends up being within ~$200-300 of the 42W2 after 2-3 Mo. of it being out, I'll probably grab the TX-42.

It looks like April will be an exciting hardware month. 1TB disks, the new Westinghouse Panels, R600, new G80 series cards, New C2D chips, etc...

I am glad I waited to do my taxes.
