Hello. I am building a computer right now and I am looking for the best Graphics card for my Tv that duals as a monitor 42" 1920x1080 HDTV. I do not plan to eyefinity now or in the future. I am wondering what brand to go with. I just had an MSI Twin Frozr III that died on me and got an rma from newegg. I am contemplating just ordering another MSI Twin Frozr III 2gb and saving up for a second in the future but am also looking at either the Sapphire dirt 3/ flex or the XFX variety. I do not want to try and unlock because i do not want to risk ruining another card but do plan to OC to the 6970 clocks 880/1350 IIRC which should be pretty easy with most cards right? I am not wanting to spend more than 300 dollars and am not dead set on AMD but I do prefer because of the phenomenal scaling in CF and because I am a brand Whore (it killed me to get the sandy bridge but am not regretting it now :biggrin)

My second question is if CF 2 6950 would be overkill at my specified resolution. Thanks for the help. Also I was thinking I might as well throw this in there. What are your views on gigabytes Easy tune software. I feel more comfortable using their software because I dont know much about OC a CPU I know enough but still dont feel comfortable. also Is it safe to plug a 3 pin fan into the 4 pin slot on the Motherboard the pins read like this in the manual 1 GND, 2 +12v/speed control, 3 Sense, 4 Reserve.

no cf 6950s are not over kill for 1080p i use 2 on my 1080p tv and in bf3 i get about double the fps when i turn cf on vs having it off whit all settings maxed. as for what brand they are all about the same, as for unlocking 6950s i have mine unlocked since day 1 and run them on stock 6970s v core and keep them clocked at 940, so i don't know how you can kill a card by unlocking it?

It can brick it if it does not take. But I killed my card trying to overclock it too far. Or it just flat out failed b/c I was stable then all of a sudden BOOM. No picture. Thank God for the on board Intel GPU. It is actually surprisingly good. I was not expecting to be able to play any games at all but I can play fallout new vegas, oblivion, and assassins creed on medium settings. I think I might just grab the twin frozr III 2gb and call it a day (until I save up for number 2)
