400GB Seagate drive?

I saw this post over at BF2004 and I thought I'd read it wrong...

"Seagate 400GB Hard Drive $229.99"

Seagate doesnt make 400GB HDs. Its far too expensive for it to be a 200GB drive (their largest drive sold today). Perhaps we should expect an annoucement in the next week or two from Seagate?

I haven't seen very many of them around though, seems like a damn nice price for a 400 gig drive. Makes me wonder if its an error.

Maxtor has a 500 gig drive coming out pretty soon. Might be shipping it next quarter.

Terabytes.....we might see them quite soon...1 MILLION megabytes! I can't believe it...I still remember when the rule was 40 MEGABYTES was average, and 100 was a lot. These drives would have cost $100s of millions of dollars if they came out with the XT...Wow.

tell me about it... my first hard disk was 120mb (i'm only 18, cut me some slack ) and now 1000 times that costs $100. i love progress.

and transfer speeds - 1mb/s used to be hot stuff. what I don't like is that the transfer rate hasn't kept pace with the capacity. My 120mb disk I could fill in 2 min, my new 200gb sata seagate will probably take 45 minutes to do that. I'd test, but it's already got stuff on it.

On the contrary, it's been months since their announcement, and the continued lack of product availability makes this a paper launch. Still, Seagate makes some solid drives, and I suppose we should be grateful when they do arrive.

i think they are talking about 300gb drives, which are about to be released.. well they are, just no one has them yet... they would be sweet though...5x 500gig seagates, in raid 5... drools... my hand are shaking, and i dont know that its from the halo 2....
