1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Photoshop, sony vegas, video converting, world of warcraft
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
i'd prefer to spend between 400 and 500 bucks, but for better quality i can go up to 600. Before taxes and shipping
3) Where do you live?
IL, USA
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very specific.
CPU, RAM, Case, Power Supply, RAM, Motherboard, hard drive (depending on the price)
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
The only thing I might reuse are my hdd's hitachi deskstar 80g and WDC WD 2500BB-00RDA0
6) Will you be overclocking?
probably not, i'm not that hardware savy
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
I have a 20 inch HP w1907
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
within the next month, as soon as i make a decision of what parts to use
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
I have no idea what any of that is, minus firewire and i dont too much care about it
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
I have windows 7 ultimate 32bit

This is what I selected but the premade was about the same price so i'm reconsidering

Gwarren have you noticed this line on the EA380D...

"No power cord included. By reusing your existing cord, you can reduce waste and help protect the environment"

What if people don't have an old cord... odd lol

Is the really necessary? And I also have a 1tb external hdd, so the space isn't really an issue.

Is what really necessary?

Also you could save about $50 and get the Samsung F3 250GB and just use that to store your OS and such on and store your data on your external.

Its missing up to date internals, a warranty that can be up to "Lifetime" (3 years minimum in my build) .

You don't "have" to get the videocard, but I would recommened a quadcore if you are doing photoshop work.

I used to be very heavy into photoshop and video editing, now it's just a rare occasion so I don't need anything hardcore for that purpose, and WoW isn't very taxing on a graphics card.

I guess i'll bite the bullet and build mine from scratch. But that video card has bad reviews and seems to have a flicker problem.

The XFX 5770? What are you talking about? Where are you getting these "reviews"? And Gwarren is 100% right. That prebuilt was old tech and it was also refurbished... no good. And you said:

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Photoshop, sony vegas, video converting, world of warcraft

Hence why gwarren suggested a quad core and why we both suggested a GPU because wow would not run on the onboard gpu.

The latest reviews from customers, i know to take them with a grain of salt but there was a common flickering issue showing up.

Ok let's do away with the photoshop and Sony vegas, does that sway your decision? But your post was pretty nice I like the case and everything seems pretty good. I wish I could ave caught these cheap ram deals i've been hearing about but oh well

If you have a problem with the card thats why you pay the extra $10 for the XFX brand, because their customer service is usually top notch. Take newegg reviews with a grain of salt the size of your head.

If all you do is basic activities plus WOW I would say go with my build vs gwarrens quad build because the quad does come with a little heftier of a price. Like I said, drop that 1TB drive to a 250gb and you would be set. RAM Prices are pretty much out of control lately so if you can find 4gb of DDR3-1600ish for under $100 shipped its a good deal.
