I am not quite sure where this falls so i shall start it here.

What i am looking for is a way to display 4 pc's at once on a single display kind of like they do with security cameras. I thought there would be a nice VNC viewer app that would do this, but after some googleing i came up empty handed. A hardware sollution would work as well, and i did find one device that does exactly what we are looking for, but its priced at about $3,500 a unit and we would 5 of the units. Does anyone have an idea how i would be able to accomplish this at a lower cost? I would say budget would be ~$500 per 4 machines max.

thanks

What kind of content are you trying to display in each quadrant? Most large displays will only allow you to show two inputs at teh same time without additional software.

Buy a monitor that can handle 1600x1200 res
Set up the 4 systems at 800x600
Use VNC

Remote desktop will also let you force a resolution so you could get by with a 1280x960 screen and 4x 640x480 systems.

we basically want 4 thumbnails of machines that are processing data, and then be able to switch to a full screen display of one of the machines. As for just setting up RDP or VNC for 1/4 res and tileing we are looking for something alittle cleaner than that in terms of switching back and forth between full screen and 1/4 screen.

I use Remote Administrator.
Take a look here:

Using stretch view, you can scale down the desktops, Vertically Tile the 4 windows, and you're watching each remote desktop. The windows won't be seamless, but it's a start. Hope this helps. I got one desktop down to 640x480 for reference. Another option is to use a magnifier app in XP to zoom in on a graph or whatever you need to monitor.

Hope this helps,
Ryan
