i currently have 2 sticks of crucial 256mb pc3200 ddr 400 on my intel board. i was told that adding 2 more would drop my fsb from 400 to 333(i thought this was strictly an amd problem). is it better to get 2 512 sticks or would the 4 256 be fine and allow me to stay at 400mhz. thanks guys

check the manual for your motherboard. it'll tell you whether you can do it or not.
though it helps if the sticks are single sided instead of double sided.

already checked manual and it says nothing about fsb drop if all 4 dimm slots are used

then i would guess you'll be all right. if it doesn't work, you can just sell/return the sticks and buy 2x512

Less Sticks > More Sticks... Less will also give you a chance to upgrade later.
Do whatever you have to do however.

You get better response time from 2 sticks of 512 then you would out of 4 256.

Like Raabid said "Less sticks > More Sticks"

i assume if i went with the 4 256 configuration it would still be a big performance jump from my current 2 256. or not? was trying to do the best i could with what i have but i definitely dont want to take any type of performance hit. i guess im going to start trying to sell the 2 sticks of 256 i have now :(
